Baron’s Mews Reviews

We had a lovely time here. Everything was available to us . Had a nice welcome pack breakfast food and chilled wine and beer when we turned up. It was ideally placed for the Kings hall venue. This was why we chose here. All on one level, nice size bedrooms and wet room.even a little separate toilet. We will be back again for sure.
This was our second visit, this time in the winter. Inside is warm and cosy even when its blowing a gale outside and the temperatures are close to zero. We were left a small welcoming pack which was appreciated and Alan the owner made a brief visit to check we had settled in ok and advised that if we had any problems we could reach him next door. We didnt. There is an info book with local knowledge including local pubs doing food which allow dogs in, our favourites being The King Ethelbert Inn at Reculver means a short drive and The Ship Inn which is a very short walk away. For dog owners, the various beaches on the way to Margate are sandy, long and open to dogs in the winter, during the summer you are restricted to the adjacent promenades. The other winter advantage is easier and cheaper parking.
Lovely property, thoughtfully prepared, comfortable, clean and in a great location.
I don't normally like leaving reviews, but our visit in September was our third stay at Barons Mews since December 2024. The spacious property is clean and comfortly furnished with lush leather sofas, a joy to sit on and relax with a glass of wine. Our only disappointment this year is to find out that owners Alan and Michelle are already fully booked for this Christmas and New Year.
This was our 3rd visit to Barons Mews and this time was equally as good. The accommodation is ideal for our needs and is always scrupulously clean. To sum up we have now booked our 4th visit for 2026!
Perfect base for exploring Herne Bay & surrounding area. Turn right for peace & quiet, left for the low key pier & amusements. Shops, pubs, takeaways all nearby. Off road parking. Very comfortable wellequipped accommodation. The only thing missing is a sea view! But it's still a lovely sea front property. We had a lovely week here with our cockapoo. Welcome goodies a bonus for both us and our dog!
Great location, a few short steps to the beach and walks. Owners very friendly and cottage very welcoming. Perfect setting for exploring North Kent. Great a small property has two loos.
Natalie
Fantastic property in a perfect location for access to the town centre and seafront. Lots of added extras on arrival which made us feel welcome. Very high standard of cleanliness and furnishing throughout, well equipped kitchen area, walk in showershower room especially good for those with mobility problems.
WE love this property. This is our third stay and we will be back . The locality is wonderful, Close to the sea , the town centre and the promenade. The property has absolutely everything you will need and is secure for dogs . The owners are wonderfully friendly and helpful and provide lots of complimentary items to make you at home straightaway.
Wonderful stay. Very thoughtful pack left for guests and owners not far away if there are problems. Location is good for town, beach and walking. Rooms comfortable and well organised.
Tadeusz
A nice cottage, well decorated in an excellent location, the kitchen area is on the small side, but there is a nice pub a short walk away. My only criticism would be the freezer door was not fitted correctly and I could not find any surface cleaning items for the kitchen.
Phillip
Light ,airy, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent location just back from the prom and a good base for exploring the area.
Second visit. Great location. Very clean and well equipped.
Robert
Very clean and comfortable. A lovely bungalow right by the sea with shops close at hand. Owners were lovely and friendly leaving a generous welcome pack which was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend it
Second stay and won't be the last . Great accommodation with everythjng you need plus wonderful outside space . Good location and close to shops and seafront Hosts are friendly and helpful.
Comfortable wellequipped cottage, with comfortable beds, quiet location between town and Downs, close to beach. Thank you to the owners for the warm welcome and thoughtful welcome pack.
Baron Mews was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully furnished. It is in an excellent location on the edge of Herne Bay. On one side it is a short walk to shops and the high street, and the other way open greenery and beautiful walking routes begin, and its close to the beach. The cottage is easily accessible, all on the ground level, with a walkin shower in the shower room. A warm welcome awaited us, with tea bags, coffee, milk, dog biscuits, and even a few luxurious touches. The owners, who live nearby, are welcoming and available if needed, yet never intrusive. A lovely place for a holiday, whether youre looking to relax or be active.
Overall an exceptional, spacious holiday property, well furnished and maintained. Helpful and friendly owner Alan, came to our rescue when upon our arrival, in the darkness, we could not see to gain entry to the property via the front gate security lock. Only negative observed was that each tea coffee cup in the cupboard was dirty with brown stains at the bottom of each cup.
Christine
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barrons Mews. Its compact but perfectly contained. The patio area at the front was useful for relaxing after a day out. Real grass would have been a bonus for Agnes retriever but the park and beach is a stones throw away so it wasnt a problem The double bed is extremely comfy. Off road parking was a real bonus
Elaine
Lovely well equipped holiday home. It was really comfortable and furnished with care and attention to the smallest detail. It was a lovely surprise to find staples like tea bags provided and some luxuries too a home from home just a few steps from the beach and a very short walk to shops and restaurants. A lot to do both locally and in the area we needed at least another week! We had fabulous weather so could eat breakfast outside and take advantage of the many fabulous walks along the coast. A perfect place for a holiday as relaxed or as busy you want it to be. Highly recommended
The only way to improve on the location would be to have a sea view from inside the accommodation, however having said that all you need to do is step outside the gate and pivot to the right to get one, with the promenade being just a very short stroll away. The accommodation was clean and well presented with a welcoming pack of essentials including a bottle of wine, thanks Alan and Michelle. The pictures in the Sykes brochure do it justice and the comment re potential noise from the adjacent main road is valid particularly during the day and early evening but it did not intrude on a good nights sleep. Did not try the cooking equipment beyond the kettle as we ate out each night. For those with a four legged friend like us, The Ship Inn, Hampton Inn and The King Ethelbert Inn are to be recommended, our favourite was the latter even though it meant driving. Would we come back YES.
This is a very comfortable cottage in a very good location. The cottage is very well equipped with a really nice outside area which is fully enclosed. Literally 2 mins around the corner is the beach which is dog friendly. The town centre is 5 mins walk and the pier and amusements a 10 min walk. The owners, Alan and Michelle, are very friendly and helpful. The complimentary food basics were much appreciated as was the doggy stuff provided. Really enjoyed our stay here and hope to book again.
My wife and i had a wonderful stay at this first class accommodation, the location of which is in an excellent position in Herne Bay, would recommend this to any persons wishing to have a pet friendly stay at this resort. Michelle and Alan were very accommodating and helpful during our stay.

This is the best cottage we have stayed in so far. Michelle and Alan made exceptional efforts to see that we had everything we needed and the essential extras in the fridge were really appreciated. We would highly recommend this cottage. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and in an ideal location being in walking distance to the town and by the sea. Gaenor and Philip
The owners, Alan and Michelle were great, helpful and friendly. Everything you could imagine was provided for in the Mews more than in any other cottage stayed at. Position perfect with a dog in lovely Herne Bay with the beach and grass for walkies nearby as well as being close to the town centre and the main road into town. My only suggestions for the future if going to be dogfriendly when next changing flooring, dont have a carpet and perhaps have a little grass artificial or otherwise at the front instead of pebbles. Some dogs mine wont wee on anything else !! Brilliant holiday.
Wonderful holiday home, everything you could wish for right on your doorstep. Hosts live next door and are really helpful but never intrusive . Area had loads to do . Nice sea view dog walk and dog friendly beach to right as you leave property. Normal seaside attractions by pier less than 10 minutes walk . Shopping area 2 minutes walk. Cottage exceptionally clean ,comfortable and well equipped. Dog and child friendly safe outdoor space with sunny and shady option . Dog and child friendly pubs and cafe's within easy flat walking distance

An excellent property in an enviable position in Herne bay, very helpful and friendly owners. Beautifully presented with everything you may need provided, comfortable beds, and lounge furniture. Adequate outside space either a sunny courtyard or a secondary space in the shade. All in all a very good holiday rental.
The cottage is all on the ground floor and is thoughtfully and well equipped. Lovely outside space at front to sit and at back for barbeque which we didn't use but looked nice. The rooms are comfortable. There is no washing machine so longer stays might be a problem, we were fine. The location is excellent, a stone's throw from the beach which is dog friendly, the town, King's Hall and Beacon Hill where there is a super area to walk a dog. The owners had left welcome pack, which was great and they were very helpful. Would definitely want to stay again.
Lovely cottage in excellent location. All we could ask for and more. A warm welcome from our hosts. The complimentary wine, beer and breakfast was an added bonus. We will certainly return and recommend.
Andrew
We can but only thank Alan & Michelle for making our stay a comfortable and most welcoming stay Highly recommendable
Absolutely delightful accommodation, well furnished and immaculately clean both inside and the garden areas, beds were very comfortable. . Private parking right outside the dwelling, a big advantage for me. Food preparation area is limited but as we didn't cook meals it was not a problem. Location here is prime. 100 yards at most from the the main beach and in the other direction was bus stops for both Canterbury and Margate, bus passes at the ready. We certainly want to stay here again.
Arthur
This was great accommodation in a brilliant position in Herne Bay. The owners provided all the basic things you need to get you off to a great start, bread, milk, marge, jam and marmalade, tea and coffee and cereal, and after the horrendous trip down there was also a very welcoming bottle of wine. The accommodation was spotless, the bed was really comfortable there were also twin beds in the second bedroom. Separate toilet with basin as well as a good shower room also with toilet and basin. Comfortable furniture in loungedining room made it easy to relax of an evening. Very dog friendly with an enclosed escape proof wrap round patio, with a covered BBQ area to the rear. Many thanks to the friendly and helpful owners . If you are going to Herne Bay you must give Barons Mews a try.
Excellent modern accommodation with wrap around garden area. Very close to amenities including beach, shops, pubsbars and restaurants. We met the friendly owners who were extremely helpful. We will definitely be staying there again.
