Shepherd's Hut Reviews

Mercedes
The location was perfect but the property was not functional only half of the bed was usable, the other half was covered with cushions, good job it was just me, two people would be bumping into each other cooking was not viable with an outside tap and no hot water, even the kettle lead did not reach the socket so it was placed on the floor, no fridge to keep milk cool, no shelves or drawers to empty my case which remained on the floor, limiting the floor space even further, no bed side table to put on the torch or a book in the space between the bed and the kitchenette I borrowed the stool from the bathroom to place the kettle, no WiFi!

Comfortable little cabin with everything we needed in an idyllic location, ... Comfortable little cabin with everything we needed in an idyllic location, perfectly located near the amazingly picturesque Dunraven Bay
The property itself was perfect for just me and was a five minute walk from the sea which was exactly what I was looking for. However, the property was not ready for me when I arrived after the check in time and I found several instances of mould around the property including in the saucepans which I took photos of and am happy to provide. The only major issue I had with the property was the bathroom situation. The advertisement made it seem like the bathroom was a lot closer than it actually was. As a young woman on my own, I wasnt very comfortable using the bathroom after dark as it was a good minute walk from the Shepards hut. Additionally, the bathroom wasnt clean. There was rubbish left by the previous visitors in the bin still. The sink was covered in dirt and debris. There were spiders everywhere. On the first day there, there was one woodlouse in the sink. As the days when on, the number of woodlice increased dramatically. Especially when it was dark. With this bathroom being a washroom, I wasnt comfortable using the shower at all. It had been overrunning by spiders and I wasnt comfortable standing in there bare foot with all the bugs. There was also only three sheets of toilet paper left on the roll when I arrived. I tried to find someone at the front entrance of the house for two days but no one answered. So I ended up buying toilet roll to use during my stay. I was very lucky to stumble upon one of the cleaners on my third day and they were very helpful and provided me with a cool box to store food. Which is definitely needed because there is no where to store food within the shepards hut and the few food places near the hut cost a fortune. I loved staying there and it was perfect for its proximity to the sea. However, the bathroom is the main reason I probably wont be going back.
