Swallow Cottage Reviews

We had a lovely stay in the cottage which we found very comfortable. It is well decorated and clean. It has everything you need. The cottage is in a good location. Thank you for a great stay.
A beautifully equipped cottage, suitable for two couples. Very convenient for Herne Bay and Kent generally.
Trisha
The host has really thought about the comfort of the guest. Well located and a lovely stay.
We had such a lovely time and the hosts were so accommodating particularly as I had accidentally locked us out of the house. The house was maintained so well and exceptionally clean. We really appreciated the tea, coffee and biscuits as they made unpacking so much easier and it truly is the little things that make an experience. Gained lots of interior design inspo particularly the full length mirror at the top of the stairs. Will definitely recommend staying here and would happily stay again.
Katrina
Lovely and clean. Nice touches like some tea, coffee and biscuits being provided. Only thing missing was a fan or two. It was very hot and no fans compounded the heat and sleep issues. Well equipped otherwise with everything we needed. We did find it a bit noisy around the cottage as a busy residential area.
This was a lovely cottage, well maintained with everything that you needed. Great dog walk nearby and The Curious Cat pub does great food. Television in the lounge lost its connection half way through the week but not really a problem as there are two other TVs in the property. Shop in the village well stocked. Great property to explore from.

Lovely cottage. Clean, comfortable and close to Herne Bay beach. Lots of local dog walks. Notes and messages around the cottage were really useful to operate the appliances and WiFi. Just need a note regarding the heating thermostat, as the connection failed several times, once the owner talked us through how to correct it the cottage was nice and warm. Had a very pleasant stay and would definatley book again.
We enjoyed our stay and the cottage was lovely and clean. The walks were perfect and on your doorstep with them beautiful views. The first night the rain was so heavy and we had an annoying tapping noise in the main bedroom but this didnt happen again. The bathroom the plug basin doesnt hold the water so need action . You went the extra mile with the tea coffee sugar milk on arrival and use of the dishwasher and washing machine
Wonderful accommodation. A few minor points Bulb in wall light in lounge needs changing. No saltpepper. Nonslip bath mat needed. Bath quite slippery. No welcome info. guest book. Many thanks to the owner for replacing broken hairdryer which was replaced within 15 minutes of phon call.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and it was nice to have milk and teacoffee on arrival. It was really helpful to have a parking space and we really enjoyed our stay.
Everything was perfect. Would have been interested in the history of the original property
Lovely cottage, everything you need for a self catering holiday. Great location for visiting all the major resorts of North Kent. Enoyed Whitstable very much, great restaurants and independent shops. Local pub, Curious Cat very good and walkable. Would recommend Swallow Cottage
Amanda
A lovely comfortable house in a quiet area less than 10 minutes from Herne bay. Well equipped kitchen with welcome milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, also cleaning products provided. Comfortable living space but not suitable for more than 2 adults fine with children as only one small sofa, could benefit from curtain installed as door has been removed to living space and sometimes chilly and not cosy. Bedroom lovely, linen and towels good and a treat to have tv in rooms. Only downside for us was outside space no privacy as right on top of neighbours who were lovely felt too overlooked and no fresh plants or nice paving just ash felt and slate stones out front. Overall we would come agian great base for visiting Kent and value for money.
Charlotte
The cottage was good. But not actually in Herne Bay as suggested in listing but in Herne common.. No leaflets or information at all about the local area or facilities that could be visited or accessed. No instructions about how to work cooker or central heating etc. Theses would have been useful. The removal of door to lounge made house feel quite chilly.
This is a fantastic holiday cottage and exactly as described. The cottage was clean with everything working and lots of little extra touches eg tea, coffee, antibac wipes, kitchen foil, washing up liquid. Kitchen was super well equipped but didnt really use it on holiday so ate out! It was the perfect place to stay for us, two friends and two dogs, great base and even made the most of the bus as it was so local and convenient. We were delighted with our stay, when I needed to contact the owner regarding the heating he called me straight away and it got sorted aware it was operator error. Have only positive praise for the cottage, location and owners. Thank you..will be booking this one again.
Nice looking property in a quiet area. It looks good from the first look, but you start to see this place needs some TLC. Coat hanger was falling off wall, dodgy looking finish to a socket in the kitchen, dishwasher clearly needs some maintenance as it was dirty from last customers with vegetables floating around in what smelt like stagnant water! Was NOT impressed that this was overlooked. Couple of plates in cupboard were dirty, TV remote does not work downstairs was disappointed this hadn't been replaced since last review. Ended up using the remote from upstairs to turn TV off! Wish we'd spotted this earlier. Wood flooring in lounge hasn't been fitted properly and in areas it's not lying flat, this could be painful if someone were to catch their foot on it. Sofa is fine but definitely not for 4 adults. Fan in bathroom is turned off, we found out why the fan doesn't go off! Bath is way too deep for a shower avoid if you have some sort of mobility issues. Shower has no power to it, so if you have longthick hair be prepared to be in there for ages washing out the shampoo! We'd have preferred some sort of welcome pack not everyone has mobile phones and sometimes it's just a more personal touch. Positives good location for Canterbury and the coast, thank you for the biscuits, tea, coffee and milk on arrival much appreciated. Loved the fact we had our own TVs in both bedrooms this was a nice touch, and to have two double beds.
Rebecca
House is wider than expected, great size bedrooms, very soft bedding and nice deep bath, shower isnt great but think it just needs new head. Downstairs, the front room is difficult to comfortably sit 4 people as sofa is very small and showing signs of aging sunken seats, tv remote didnt work and multiple buttons were broken, we brought our own firestick to watch as the Netflix wouldnt load on tv. Kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. House is quite dark due to location and ventilation is an issue, it got very very hot and the heating had a mind of its own of when it would come on, had to message owners as micro power cuts shut off the boiler and we couldnt find the reset for the thermostat but they were very quick with a response. Would work for a couple but wouldnt recommend for family as the living space is just too small. A welcome book with a little how to for the boiler, washing machine and dishwasher would be helpful. Lovely location, very quiet, great walks around the countryside.
Loretta
Kriss & Tom have made this a home from home. We had a small problem and they were on it from the moment I contacted them and came to the cottage to ensure everything was ok. A
Natalie
Lovely cottage which looks exactly like its pictures. Felt very spacious and was perfect for two adults and two children, especially with the fully equipped kitchen and private car parking space. Wonderful location to explore this region of Kent.
We were extremely happy with swallow cottage it was excellent in all areas and very quiet and comfortable in the evenings. We also went to the curious cat for lunch which had been recommended and was pleased we had thanks for helping us to have a happy time in Kent Brett

Spotlessly clean and well presented. Good location and really enjoyed our stay.

A very well equipped cottage. We thought the location was excellent for exploring the Kent coast and nearby area. Also in a lovely little housing close, full of character, with children's playground and own parking space. Worked perfectly for us with our two children spacious master bedroom and lovely kitchen to cook in. Very safe and lovely area. House was clean, decorated and finished nicely, with great attention to detail. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Richard
Very nice cottage but not a great location
Nadine
Very lovely cottage, and there was all the comfort you need for a vacation without stress. It was just a little search to find it .
Michael
Swallow cottage was in an ideal position for exploring Kent. The accommodation was comfortable and allowed the 4 adults to enjoy our time at the venue. Seating in the lounge was tight for 4 adults but we managed fine. We also cooked some meals maybe a folder could be added to centralise all details for the stay this is common in other similar places we have stayed.
The house is small but comfortable and well equipped. The couch is not that comfortable. And the distance to amenities and the beach is greater than I expected. Still we had a great holiday in beautiful Kent!
Enjoyed my stay in your lovely cottage. Very clean, fully equipped, warm and comfortable no hassle parking space close to Herne Bay, Whitstable and Canterbury. Brilliant service from Tom the owner who came to my rescue when locked myself out whilst packing up car on the last day Thank you again and I'm sure I will be back again
A very nice little cottage. Well equipped for 4 people. Lots of things to do around Herne Bay.
We enjoyed our stay at Swallow Cottage, ideal location for touring Kent. Nice and quiet spot.
Spent a lovely few days at Swallow Cottage. A spacious, well equipped place. Very comfortable stay for us. It's a great place to explore Kent. The pub nearby was within walking distance and a great find and dog friendly.
Love staying here. It caters for our needs and has a lot of walks nearby, which are great for the dog.
Delightful spotlessly clean modern cottage in a range of buildings which were originally built in the 1800s as a workhouse, and have been carefully converted into individual properties. The courtyard areas lead on to landscaped estate grounds which are well looked after by a friendly gardener. Plenty of crockery and cutlery. Using the dedicated parking space a short walk away led to a relaxing and stressfree stay. Thank you. We hope to return one day.
Andrew
Had a very nice stay. Had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Good base to explore Isle of Thanet. Appreciated milk and biscuits on arrival and communication about the property.
Michelle
