Unfortunately i became ill and had to go to hospital so that has a bearing on our review but what we would like to say is how kind the owners were and that made a big difference in a difficult situation & will be remembered thanks very much Brett & Liz

Great little place for 2 persons. In easy reach of Herne, Reculver, Whitstable, Canterbury,Wildwood. Very friendly family and that includes their fabulous red lab
Elaine & Gareth were excellent hosts, very friendly, helpful & obliging The Old Dairy is a lovely place, clean, comfortable, & functional. With a beautiful, friendly Fox Red Labrador to call in on us . Great location for visiting Canterbury,Herne Bay, Reculver, Broadstairs & Whistable Definately would love to return
First stayed here in 2016 but now moved to within 2 hours away and wanted to visit North Kent, so chose The Old Dairy again. Such a lovely family, including the beautiful red lab. Everything was as it should be and a great base for us to visit friends and revisit places. We had great weather which helps. Visited Broadstairs, Whitstable, Reculver, Herne Bay and a special mention to the Hampton Inn, through Herne Bay, a great pub where our friend is the licensee. Lovely food. Also visited Wildwood where, if you are coeliac, they will make a gluten free pizza for you! Hope to visit this lovely place again
Trevor
We had a lovely, short stay at The Old dairy. We didn't have a lot of contact with the owners, when we did they were both very nice and extremely helpful. The property was great, clean, had everything we neededwanted, was very quiet and we enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much.
Gillian
We had a lovely stay at The Old Dairy, it was clean, very comfortable, and had everything we needed. lots of lovely walks near by, didn't need to use the car, bus service was really good, bus stop just up the road and buses every 15 minutes. It was easy to walk into Herne bay, only 30 mins, not the prettiest of walks but easy to find and no steep hills! Really sorry Elaine, I forgot to empty the bin !!!
A lovely little cottage, tucked away in the owners massive garden. A nice decking area to relax outside. Very very friendly hosts. No brush to give it a clean before departure. maybe something to consider. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Thanks
Couple of pillows badly stain Shower pressure bad
The Old Dairy was very good had all we needed for a great holiday and location was great. Bus stop only 50m for bus into Canterbury and only 2pound for a single ticket. The Smugglers inn is 40m away and has plenty of drinks on offer and Colin was very friendly. The Curious Cat is a 15 minute walk and serves good food and drinks at reasonable prices. The property was very comfortable and a nice patio area for a quiet drink. Elaine was a great hostess and was so helpful with our travel plans. Would definitely stay again if and when we visit England.
Vehicular access is quite tricky, but once inside the gates,it is very secure. It is peaceful and quiet. The bed and sofa are both comfortable. We enjoyed our week in spite of the facilties being dated. Cobwebs and dust were prevalent and a fair bit of mould and limescale in the bathroom. Also, the bins were overflowing.
We had such a wonderful holiday, our host and family were very helpful and what a lovely family! ! The Old Dairy had everything we needed, was cosy, clean and close to some beautiful beaches and the historic city of Canterbury . Very peaceful. Alan &Dawn Nottingham.
Sharon
Lovely and comfortable little place. Very friendly and welcoming owners really enjoyed our stay would definitely recommend a stay here thank you for the milk and cakes, the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.

The property is nice , however would have been more better if the basic amenities are provided , though we understand that it was a last minute confirmation. Owners were helpful and reachable over phone all the time . The property doesn't have the WIFI , it would be good if they provide so. Overall its a nice stay
Rachel
Lovely well equipped cottage quilt was very hot as the heating was very efficient so didnt need such a high tog. Very central for pubs, buses, shop and church. Friendly hosts who provided cakes, milk, eggs and flowers a lovely gesture.
Clarence
The Cottage needed a lot of updating and hadnt had a proper clean before our arrival kitchen equipment needed replacing and chairs etc needed a clean The windows didnt shut properly the paint around them was flaking off The toilet wouldnt flush properly and was reported the week before our visit we were there for two weeks and it took over a week for it to be repaired There were no blinds at the kitchen bathroom windows We had snail trails in the kitchen most mornings. A very disappointing visit
We reported that the toilet would not flush sporadically on the first day not resolved at any point in our stay. Decor bare patches of plaster around the bedroom window. Sealant around bathroom sink badly cracked. External paint in poor condition. No blinds in kitchen or bathroom. Equipment no oven gloves, plates, glasses etc were mismatched. Very little cutlery. No where to put dry food. Towels need replacement soon. Generally, needs a make over with attention to detail. Suggest owners sleep and eat in the unit to see the need for more and better quality equipment.Do Sykes actually regularly check the standard of cottages?
Excellent accommodation with a large garden that you can sit out in. Immaculately clean and tidy and larger than it appears in the photos. The village has a very good service to the bus station in Canterbury. A visit to the Butchers Arms the UKs first micro pub is a must
The location of the Old Dairy is perfect for a variety of day trips. Very comfortable accommodation and the friendly hosts were very helpful with suggestions of best day trips and places to eat.
Malcolm
A warm welcome, peaceful yet within sight of the village centre with excellent walks and bus service routes to Canterbury and Herne Bay.
Lovely little cottage, comfortable and clean.
Robert
The dairy was great for the surrounding area, the buses
Fantastic hosts made us feel very welcome. The Old Dairy is charming. Clean and cosy. We had a fabulous time. Perfectly placed to visit lots of lovely places on the Kent coast. A little Gem!!
We were only had one day as the Old Dairy had water coming through the ceiling, so to make it easier for the owners we decided to leave. I have to say that the owners were lovely people and couldnt have done more for us.
At The Old Dairy you are made so welcome, such a beautiful place very clean comfortable and a patio area to sit at too I highly recommend this for a great holiday base for exploring Kent.
Albert
Elaine, Gareth and family made us very welcome and gave us ideas for visiting and eating and was always available .
The Old Dairy is a beautiful & well appointed accommodation. There is a lovely patio at the rear which a wonderfully little sun trap.
Philip
Excellent location, didnt need to use the car all week because of the frequent bus service from 200 yds along the road. The hosts were over and above friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive nothing was too much trouble for them. Our stay was relaxing and restful and altogether just what we were looking for.
Robert
Excellent location with a great bus service to Whitstable and Canterbury. Owners very friendly and helpful.
Emmeline
Great location for exploring the local area great accomadation very friendly and helpful owners would reccomend
Christopher
Lovely cottage! I felt so relaxed and welcome. The owners were so welcome and friendly. The cottage is clean and comfortable and atmospheric. Perfect for a retreat. Beautiful big garden.
Rosalind
The cottage was situated in between houses which front directly onto the Main Street. This makes access and exit a bit difficult. The people were pleasant and had left milk etc for us on arrival. The cottage itself was very gloomy, due to the size of the windows and the aspect of the property. The shower was a little bijou, but it worked well. There were no curtains just Venetian blinds, which gave a stark quality. The bed was comfortable. I think the property could do with a lick of paint inside particularly around the windows. Herne is well positioned to visit several interesting places.
For us, the mattress was too soft. But have recommended the property to several friends as, with that one exception, it's beautiful and ideal for touring that part of Kent. The mattress is a purely individual matter and what suits one wont suit another!
It was a comfortable stay with all the things we needed. The shower was a little tricky being quite small with nowhere to put your soap etc, but the bed was super comfortable and the electric wall heaters warmed up the cottage very quickly when we arrived. We were welcomed and shown where to park. Getting back out on to the main road can be tricky we were very grateful for the mirror to see what was coming!
